Summer Youth Internship

Details:  This Summer Youth Internship is part-time position offered to any applicant who wants to grow in their leadership and disciple-making abilities, who has a desire to serve and minister to youth, and who love Jesus Christ and want to imitate him in their lives.

Purpose:  This internship exists for the mutual benefit of Katy Christian Community Church and the intern.  Through this internship, we hope to:
1.  Create a safe space to serve, practice, explore, and grow in your God-given gifts for ministry.
2.  Provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
3.  To discern God’s ministerial calling in your life and how you may be used in the sphere of ministry, either vocationally or as a lay-leader in the future.

 

Responsibilities:
1.  You may be asked to lead and/or support various ministries or portions of them, such as Friday Large Groups, Wednesday Small Groups, Bible Studies, Sunday School, personal discipleship, etc., utilizing your gifts and talents.
2.  Alongside the Youth Minister and other interns, help plan, prepare, and execute summer ministries such as Camp, service projects, gatherings, etc.
3.  Engage youth consistently and intentionally in discipleship over the summer months.

 

Expectations:
1.  Applicant should be a believer in Christ who wants to grow more in their faith and live out the gospel, not seeking perfection but embracing transparency and grace.  To this end, we expect the intern to attend and participate in Sunday worship and Focus ministries when at all possible.
2.  Applicants should conduct themself consistently with biblical truths and teaching in life, relationships, and ministry.
3.  Applicants should be humble, willing to go outside of your comfort zone, and a team player.

 

Commitment/Compensation:

1.  This position is a paid position ($250/wk), for applicants over the age of 18 though there are unpaid positions available for students over the age of 16 with non-monetary benefits.
2.  Approximately 20 hours/week of in-person ministry work, either in the office or off-site.  This may be variable depending on what ministries occur on a given week.
3.  The timeframe for this internship will be flexible, depending on the applicant’s needs, but will encompass as much of the summer as possible.
